Lego lift-off!

An Australian lego enthusiast has spent 8-months building a 7ft-long, 6ft-wide Qantas Airbus A380 model out of lego in his garage! The model aircraft is split into two halves to reveal the inside of the replica aircraft which (in real life) is used for long-haul flights.

The lego model boasts a selection of fully functioning landing gear, two rear landing gear doors, airbrakes on the wing, landing lights and a tail fin on the rear wing. As well as 2-inch high cabin crew and famous passengers including Indiana Jones and Star Wars’ Yoda.

The entire project is estimated to have cost Ryan McNaught around £3,500 which was purposely built for 2010 Brickworld Lego event in Chicago, USA, in June.

Mr McNaught, says: ”I used to work for an airline so had a bit of knowledge about planes, but it is harder to get information these days because of the world terrorism threat. This was by far the most challenging thing I have ever built.” *

For his next project, Mr McNaught said he would like to construct a cut-open skyscraper…so watch this space!
