British tour operator Goldtrail has gone into administration, leaving thousands of holidaymakers stranded abroad and many more forced to change their holiday plans.
Goldtrail, which specialises in holidays to Greece and Turkey and also trades under the names of Goldtrail Holidays, Goldtrail Travel and Sunmar, ceased trading at 4pm on Friday 16th July. Its website no longer works and about 16,000 tourists are currently abroad needing flights home.
The CAA is currently issuing the following advice to customers:
Customers due to travel
There are no more outbound Goldtrail flights. If you were due to travel on a Goldtrail flight you should check with your travel organiser before you go to your departure airport as your flight tickets will not be valid.
Customers currently abroad on holiday
The CAA will be making arrangements to ensure customers of Goldtrail can fly home at the end of their holiday. The majority of flights from Turkey are expected to operate as planned. There may be some changes to flights from Greece and information will be provided by local representatives at the airports involved. Further updates will be provided as soon as it is available. Goldtrail customers abroad seeking general information can call the CAA on 0044 203 4410846.
